For the longest time I wondered how Walmart dealt with the price matching guarantee that I saw advertised on TV and their print circulars so often. After a while I decided to give it a try by taking the time to look through all the circulars from my local grocery stores, making my shopping list and heading to Walmart. I don’t know why I was intimidated initially because the process was quite simple. As the cashier scanned my items I simply had to let them know which items were priced less at another store (I’d bring the circular with me for verification) and they’d make the match. Easy!
Over time it seemed a bit tedious but still worthwhile, at least if I planned my grocery trip accordingly. I did notice Walmart’s pricing started changing though. They got lower and sometimes even less than the competition. Then I saw the ads changing. I kept hearing “Savings Catcher” and the idea of scanning a receipt to get money back…it sounded complicated or too good to be true. Either way, I didn’t jump on it right away. But after seeing the reminder on my receipts so many times and already having the Walmart shopping app on my iPhone I figured “why not?”
The shopping app was updated to include the Savings Catcher which I was happy with because having so many apps already I didn’t really want to download another if I didn’t think it would really be useful.
Well, I’ll just say when I did use the Savings Catcher I was so amazed at the ease of the app and the difference in costs.
I literally had to just scan the QR code at the bottom of my receipt
and in 2-3 days I would get a notification of whether or not there were savings found.
I then had the option to redeem the amount to an e-gift card or transfer the funds to my Bluebird card as Walmart Buck$. I chose the latter because for a limited time they were doubling the savings! I couldn’t beat that if I tried.
What I like about the Walmart Buck$ is I can use them as a “savings” towards wish list items I’ve been waiting to get or gifts for the children’s birthdays, etc.
Walmart makes their one-stop shopping even more convenient, and rewarding, with the Savings Catcher app.
