Do You Have 10 Minutes?

With a new year comes all the hype of resolutions and goals. Most times those entail the same categories: family time, finances and fitness. So you may have a resolution to exercise more or lose weight or get fit and feel you don’t have the time to go to a gym or maybe you feel more comfortable at home.

If you’re looking for a convenient but challenging and effective workout, I’ve been using 7-Minute Workout (High Intensity Training) by lolo for about a year and I love it! I feel energized and have noticed improved strength overall as well as toning and definition.

When setting up the app you create a simple profile with gender and weight and select a few settings to determine your available equipment.

Trust me you don’t need a fully equipped gym.

I use Dumbbells, a yoga mat, chair and stability ball. I was using a ball before one of my mischievous children poked it with a pencil. I will be getting another.

You can also select whether or not you want 10 seconds rest between transitions. Another nice feature is the playlist.

I feel music can really make or break a workout experience. You can select your own music to create your playlist and there is a feature that can change the beats per minute to match the exercise.

There are also video demonstrations so you can view the exercise in advance.

But the whole workout routine plays as you go so you’re able to check yourself for correct form.

If you like keeping track of your progress there is a history of your workouts which includes date, duration and calories burned.

This high intensity interval training works every muscle of your body possible. From shoulders and arms to thighs and calves and everything in between, I literally feel my muscles strengthen with each workout. That good soreness after only ten minutes of intense work is definitely worth the time. When you think of how full your schedule is and all your priorities and commitments, don’t make excuses as to why you don’t have time to workout, instead make time for workout a priority.

Do you have 10 minutes in your day to devote to your health and well-being?

2014 Goals

This is the last week of January so I’ve had plenty of time to think of what my personal resolutions goals are for 2014. I had to give enough time for the “new year, new you” phase to die down. Every new year marks the proclaimed new resolutions. I, however, like to set new goals. Sometimes big, others small, but always practical. As the past few years have provided opportunities for exploring new ventures, I am learning to make changes of my own in an effort to advance my growth, both personally and professionally.

This year, as with every other, I decided that I would to continue focusing on things that matter to me: faith, relationships, fitness, finances & fun.
I start my mornings with a daily devotional right on my iPhone or iPad with the YouVersion Bible app. My two current {& favorite} plans are “Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life” and “Parenting by Design”. I find both to be great in keeping me anchored in God’s word, to get me through the challenges of daily life as a woman, wife and mother.

With my husband’s current health situation (which is still undiagnosed) I am thankful to have the flexibility to be by his side through his many medical office visits. Aside from just being there for him, I want to strengthen our relationship by making time for regular date nights. Just because we are married and spend every waking moment together lately, doesn’t mean we can’t take time to plan and enjoy a date night. So I am going to commit to a date one night a month for starters. I’ll definitely be checking The Dating Divas for ideas.

I’ve always been involved with my children’s education and school activities as well as their own personal interests. With the Rainbow Loom craze being all the rage lately, we’ve been spending a lot of crafty time together. My husband and I showed them our childhood craze: plastic craft lace lanyards, also known as gimp or scoubidou, boondoggles, etc. They’ve really enjoyed being creative and I’ve enjoyed the quality time together. I plan on continuing to nurture their interests and I hope they enjoy these memories as much as I do.

As far as fitness goes, I started a regimen with my Wii using My Fitness Coach in December of 2012. I really liked the progress I was making as well as how personally tailored the program is to my needs. I noticed how my overall health and energy improved. Because things have changed a bit over the past few months, I have started using the 7-Minute Workout (High Intensity Training) app. Yup, right on my iPhone. So there’s no excuse to not get my workout in regardless of where I am. In 10 minutes max I’m warmed up, worked out, and cooled down. I was skeptical at first thinking the amount of time was too short or the exercises implemented weren’t working out all my muscles but trust me when I say, the next day I feel the burn. I do everything from planks, crunches, jogging in place, chair dips and more. I look forward to each new day’s routine so I can give my body an overall intense training.

I would like to get started on becoming debt free. Student loans continue to loom and I just want to have financial freedom. Some may think that’s a far fetched dream but I know it’s possible with commitment and financial management. I’ve begun to establish multiple streams of income through online marketing. Some methods include affiliate marketing, referral marketing and direct sales. I also complete surveys and receive compensation for my time. If you’re interested in earning extra cash, feel free to give it a try yourself! There is no obligation, you’ve got nothing to lose, and money to gain.

Enjoying the life I have is definitely an important part of my daily happiness. Tomorrow is never promised and I do my best to live one day at a time, enjoying the moments I’m blessed with. I look forward to fun every day with simple things such as a good reason to laugh, a quick game of Uno and just about anything that can be made fun. There will be weekends, birthdays and many activities throughout the year to have fun and I’m looking forward to it all.

I feel the photo below sums it all up quite well:
