Flashback Friday

When I started my health and wellness business I wanted to make extra money💵 to pay off debt💳. With nothing but student loans 📚looming over me it was preventing me from having a life of freedom with my family👨‍👩‍👧‍👦.

If you’ve been allowing your fears to hold you back from living the life you want and deserve, you will forever be stuck in the cycle 🌀 of working hard for someone else’s dreams, and being broke. Not just broke financially but mentally, emotionally and spiritually.🙍

The best investment you can make is in yourself.🙆 If you don’t try, you’ll never know.

My business isn’t about wraps. It’s about changing lives.🎭

Are you ready to live the life you’ve always imagined? 🙇🏻💭

Workout Wednesday

Spring is here! It’s hard to believe time is passing so quickly. Just about two months ago, on December 24, 2012 I made the choice to increase my physical activity to achieve a healthier state of physical being. Being consistent has proven to be beneficial physically and mentally.

Having been on a roller coaster ride with my workout routine, I decided I would stick with it no matter how much time I spent, whether 15 minutes or 45 minutes. I simply wanted to follow through. I started My Fitness Coach on my Wii game system and I was assessed to determine what area of my body would be the focus to strengthen and improve. After weighing myself, measuring my biceps, waist, hips and thighs, determining my resting and active heart rates and doing reps of squats, crunches and push ups, I was quite out of breath but feeling good. I entered a few more details, such as goals, and My Fitness Coach determined my area of focus would be upper body, which I was certainly in agreement with. The recommended schedule for consistent progress was shown as 45 minutes three days weekly, Monday-Wednesday-Friday.

And so my journey began. I have been consistent with my workout routine and have seen healthy progress. My weight is gradually increasing, which is good because my BMI (Body Mass Index) is considered underweight (5’6″ @ 113 lbs). It is a concern for me because after four pregnancies, my weight was at the lowest I’ve ever been since before high school, over twelve years ago. While so many pursue weight loss I’m working to put the pounds on. While many ask how do I look so good with three children, and I jokingly reply “I’m busy running after them all day”, the struggle proved to be frustrating mostly because I always maintained a weight above 135 lbs. Thankfully, and proudly, I have gained three pounds since beginning my workout commitment and am now 116 lbs. My goal is to get back to 135 lbs and maintain it. I know with the right attitude and consistent effort I will reach my goal.

I have learned fitness is a state of being and a state of mind. I feel stronger, leaner, healthier, more confident, self-disciplined and energetic. Keeping up with a family of five (seven on weekends), having energy is a necessity. Through it all I challenge myself to push a little more and work a little harder. I am learning that a commitment to myself is all I need to achieve success. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” -Philippians 4:13

What types of exercise do you enjoy?

New Year, New You

After recovering from a fun night with my family and friends, I took about an hour with my wall calendar, personal appointment planner, and different colored pens and highlighters. As I normally do with my weekly planning, I color coded and prioritized my upcoming events so I’m aware of what’s going on with the children’s school activities the next few weeks.

I took extra effort to plan my monthly business focus for the year. From there I will develop a plan of action to meet my goals. Overall, I felt accomplished just by taking the time to plan. I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want 2013 to be a year that closes with me hoping I had done more. I made mental resolutions to be productive in all aspects of my life.

I figured it would be best to start it knowing what I want for myself and how I’m going to make it happen. Of course, my plans are minuscule in comparison to the plans God has. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not harm you; to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

While I feel my work experience has helped me develop fairly good planning and organizational skills, I know my life experience has taught me that putting my plans in God’s hands is always the best way to go. I may not always agree with or understand how or why He has certain things happen in my life. But when I see the end from the beginning, I see He is painting a unique picture on the canvas of my life. He is building my character, molding me into the woman, wife and mother He has designed since before I was in my mother’s womb. And while a certain doctor may have thought I shouldn’t be part of this world, God had a different idea. He has a purpose for my life that He is showing me day by day.

I am thankful for His faithfulness and blessings. I am looking forward to being closer to Him in my daily walk this year.

What plans and resolutions do you have for your new year?

If I Were President

Today’s Election Day in the United States has been the talk of the last several weeks and months, as with every other. Many people are seeking change, holding on to the hope of improved conditions, and most of all positive leadership.

If I were President of the United States…yes, I am a woman, and no a woman has not been elected into office yet…but  never say never! 😉  My first act in office as President would be to celebrate women.

Most women do not realize their worth. Especially for this election, it was said repeatedly that women voters would be the deciding factors. The influence of a woman in her own home, and in her community is something to be taken seriously. Unfortunately society only adds to the lack of female recognition by offering women less pay than their male counterparts.

Without women, children would not grow up dreaming of some day being president, and many organizations would not be run effectively. It takes a women to nurture, encourage and spark the belief of better days. The strength of a woman is beyond physical, though she is made to endure labor and childbirth. A woman’s strength rests in her heart and soul.

Women naturally put others before themselves. She is not selfish, but selfless in many ways. It is this very nature that blinds her from the greatness she is. In celebrating women, I would bring recognition to women everywhere: mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, from all walks of life, from every profession and career field.

All to share how important each individual woman is in her home, in her workplace, in her community, in her church, school, everywhere.

What would be your first act if you were President?

Liberty and a Smile

Tomorrow is election day in the United States, where citizens will either give our current President, Barack Obama, a second term in office, or give Governor Mitt Romney a chance at his first term in office. While many are still undecided, we all at least have the privilege to practice our freedom to vote.

In watching this presidential race, there are several important issues that are concern for everyone. These include: unemployment, education, taxes, economic conditions, healthcare and more. Regardless of political affiliation, Democrat, Republican or other, opefully everyone who can, will get to the polls to make sure their voices are heard.

I have kept an eye on the women involved in the presidential race. Current First Lady, Michelle Obama, and Mrs. Romney are both influential in their fashion and style sense. I also notice that as supportive women, they always wear the most beautiful accessory a woman naturally has: a radiant smile.

As we take part in yet another historical moment in our time, let’s be thankful for the liberties we have. Share a smile with someone, regardless of whether or not you know them. It may just make their day.
